It's immediately clear that person had never worked anywhere before and has zero idea what life outside university campus is all about. It reminds me of a similar post by a former Bioware employee that went viral - dude was complaining about working conditions in Bioware being unbearable because managers were always trying to tell people what to do (imagine that!) and employees had only an hour long lunch break (only an hour!). The only thing that changed is that now management are millionaires after THQ bought them and now they don't even care anymore so why should the developpers care ?Ĭlick to expand. It's not inconsequential, it gives you an idea what kind of person you're dealing with. Even after they promised that if the game was a success they would hire everybody as employees which is still not the case. There were dozens of meetings between the leads and the management to try to change the company fondamentaly especially after the project was a worldwide success.Ībsolutely nothing changed, things are the exact same as back when they were a financially struggling indie in terms of practices. I believe it's useless to give advice to management there is just too much ego there. Communications is difficult as English is not mandatory to be employed which means sometimes you'll need a translator to collaborate with some departements. Career opportunities are very limited as the lead roles are only for czech speakers as the lead meetings are in czech. Management already declared that they won't do anything between the people who do the minimum effort and clockout the minute they have their 8 hours and those who work until 9pm every day. It's useless to work very hard, long hours and put a lot of effort in your work, no one will notice or reward you in any way. Company's approach to conflicts is whoever throws a punch first gets fired or whoever quits first. Company has a policy of not firing anyone which sounds good but it's terrible as nothing is done for the toxic people and conflicts.
#Ship sinking simulator 2 not working how to
CEO is not Dan Vavra, the current CEO was put in charge by the pervious private investor and knows absolutely nothing about the gaming industry and game developpement but somehow tells developpers how to do their jobs and is the main reason the company is becoming more and more corporate for a studio that was indie not so long ago.
Sinking ship, all the talented seniors who made KCD great are gone or planning to leave and management fails to replace them. Discrimination/Racism, some things have been said about non-czech workers by some people in the company if they said what they said in any other games studio they would have been fired on the spot without a warning but here nothing is done about it.Īlso management pretends to be concerned about 20% of the company declaring being harassed/discriminated in the yearly survey meanwhile when I gave my resignation letter not a single word was exchanged on why am I leaving, etc. Also no help is offered to foreigners to deal with paperwork in czech to do their taxes, social security, etc.īut then they don't respect the contractor aspect as they ask you to have a 3 month notice period when you resign.
#Ship sinking simulator 2 not working full
No one is hired as employee except people who need a VISA, everybody is hired as full time contractors (which is illegal by the way and conveniently not spoken of during interviews until you receive the contract) to offer a better salary they say but in reality it's for them to pay less taxes. Some Christmas you get a bonus, some Christmas you get a t-shirt. Decent salary for Czech Republic, way bellow for the industry standards.
